Sadness Thru Tears and Laughter

Last night was the showing of My Uncle and today the services were held. It was wonderful seeing all my family even under the circumstance. I sometimes forget how large my Mom's side of the family is. To share funny and touching stories about my Uncle Kenny and each other was a soothing salve.

The minister talked of many qualities my Uncle had but one above all else he heard time and time again from everyone was how he never forgot to tell you he loved you. So many people (me included) forget to tell our family and friends we love them and appreciate them. My Uncle Kenny never forgot to say it. He lived his life full of love not just saying it. He helped everyone he could. He was always thinking of others. I'm better for knowing him and better for having such a good example.

I talked to him the week before and his last words were "I love you and tell Lee I love him too." I hope as the days, months and years now pass by I will remember to never let too much time pass by to tell my family and close friends how much they mean to me and should I leave this world for whatever reason those I leave behind will know how I feel about them in my heart and how much better they have made my life.

A Birthday Card For Barb...and A Quick Update...

Where did last week go...and so fast! My sister-in-law Barb had her birthday on Wednesday and the card I sent her was another that I learned from Michelle Zindorf's brayer classes. We also had our Monthly card night. The group has graciously offered to have my sister join the group. I think she is very happy to know she is welcome. She can't wait to demonstrate "Flower Soft". It's her new passion...she has to figure out how to add it to every card she makes right now. LOL :0) (you can check out some of her cards in one of my older posts this month)

I made the little "Matchbook" note pad/callendar's for the girls in the group. You can't see it very well in the picture but the little matchbook has a note pad on it and I just added the calendar at the top flap. I got the adhesive calendars from Vippies. (I used there little stick figure stamps on the match note pad) I also gave some chipboard coaster, calendar, and adhesive magnets to make their own magnetic fridge calendar.

Sadly Lee wasn't up to company this weekend(really all week) so we had to cancel our family game day. He hasn't totally gotten over a cold he had earlier in the month. It was the one thing I was looking forward to all month. Instead, I ended up cleaning and scrubbing kitchen cabinets and started the move of all my rooms. I can't wait to get everything moved around. To have a whole room devoted to my stamping will be awesome.

Well, hope you like the card I sent Barb. The bird card is the card we did for card night. All the cards used all Stampin Up! Supplies.

I'll post the weekly card for David later this afternoon. :0)

Card for David...week 33

Well, the weeks are just ticking by. These cards are the inspiration of one of our stamping friends Barb Mechling. (Thanks Barb for letting me use your stamp set, tape and embossing folders!) The metal looking strips are from the hardware store. It's some kind of tape you use to wrap pipes. :0) Barb used them in her embossing folders. Let's face it we stampers look at things differently! Everywhere we go we are looking for things to stamp with or on. And anything we can use our Sizzix Big Shot Die Machines for. hehe

I'm sending one to not just my brother but my nephews and sister-in-law as well. I think they will get a kick out of them.

All supplies except for the sliver tape are from Stampin Up!

As always I wish you time to be creative and most of all time to stamp.

Sympathy Card

Sadly one of my stamping friends Paula, had her sister passed away on Friday. Her sister was young so it's so hard to find the right words...in the reality there isn't any. I hope Paula knows how much all her friends are here for her. Paula is one of the nicest, funniest and talented people I know.

This card is made with all Stampin Up! supplies

I tried to keep it soft and minimal. Using white on white makes a quiet but elegant statement.

Card Making With My Sister

What a nice day it was yesterday. I had been promising to find time to stamp with my sister(Mary) and we finally got together yesterday. Mary had bought this product that is pretty hot in the stamping world right now called "Flower Soft". It is like flocking which has been around forever only better. It is so fine and the colors are totally FAB and after it's applied it is so fuzzy and well...soft!!! These are a few of the cards we made. We did them kind of a assembly line with both of us working on the cards. Mary ended up doing all the Flower Soft(except the card with the heart...I just didn't get the hang of it). I loved how the Iris turned out.

Supplies used: Flower Soft and Flower Soft Glue on all cards. Additional items listed below.

Iris Card: stamp from PSX, markers and papers a mix from Stampin up and Close To MY Heart

Rose Card: All products and stamp from Stampin Up

Heart Card: Stamp from Stampendous , punch used for border from Fiskers and all other products from Stampin Up

Allium Card: All products from Stampin Up

As always, I wish you time to be creative and most of all time ot stamp!

Favorite room in the house...Laundry Room...Really!

Yes, my favorite room in the house is the laundry room. :0) It is my favorite job.(how I hate to dust!!!)I got my new washing machine yesterday evening...ahhhh...I'm in Heaven! LOL I just got the vinyl wall cling and Lee got me the "Mother Theresa" saying(it's my all time favorite quote) and since the frame had a leaf motif of course I just had to have it. I'm finding my favorite things to decorate with are birds, trees and leaves. I can't wait till I have everything moved where I want it and finish hanging all these pictures I've got.

Now to go catch up on all the laundry that piled up while I waited for delivery of the washing machine. You never know how much laundry you actually do until you see it pile up! LOL :0)

Well, this wasn't a "stamping" post but I have a great card I will be posting later tonight.

Card For David ...week 34

Well, here is the latest in my cards for my Brother. I made this card in the class I took from Michelle Zindorf. It was amazing learning how to use a brayer to make the backgrounds. She is so talented. I took her beginner and advanced classes and it was so fun. I will post the other cards another time.

All supplies used were from Stampin Up!

As always, I wish you time to be creative and most of all time to stamp!

Secret Door Card for David ...week 35

Wow, I can hardly believe I have sent David something the last 15 weeks! The time flies. This card is a "secret door" card. You need to Fold it into a "valley fold" and then pull it open and it shows a separate message inside. You never see anything on the back. I also made one for each nephew and my sister-in-law. I think they will love them. It's hard to explain how they work. Hope the pictures will help to understand how it works.

All the supplies came from Stampin Up! discontinued papers. I printed the saying off my computer for the "Whale" card. (aren't I funny...LOL)

As always, I wish you time to be creative and most of all time to stamp!

Cards For "Day of Card Making"

Well, I've been up since 4am. I'm going to be gone today for about 5 hours for a card making day at a friends house. Each person brings 2 types of cards and enough for each person to make 2 of that card. Mine are Valentine and Masculine. And we each bring a dish. I made a double batch of Creamy Cheesy Potato Soup with crackers. There will be 8 "stations" so I think I'll be coming home with 32 cards. I can't wait to see what the other girls will make. Mine are basic stamping but some of the girls are really advanced stampers.

The cards are all done with Stampin Up Supplies. The Love card is a gate fold card using the new set Filled With Love and the Pattern Of Love Designer Paper. I used Pretty In Pink satin ribbon on one and Real Red Polka-Dot ribbon on the other(I like the polka-dot one better). Also used textured real red and regular pretty in pink cardstock. Real Red ink and some glitter on the heart.
On the Train card I used now discontinued Kiwi Kiss Designer paper(I love this color and was so sad to see it go), basic black and whisper white card stock. The button is corduroy in Kiwi Kiss with black hemp tied to it. It gives it a nice texture to the card. The ribbon is also striped Kiwi Kiss. Used jet black Stazon ink. Hope they will like them. They look much better in person!

Hope you have time today to be creative and most of all stamp!

Till my next post...take care and have a wonderful day,
Shirley

Tumbled Tile Coaster Sets

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We had all our family with the exception of my niece Jessica and her family. Boy is there still a pile of gifts waiting to be opened by my Great Nephew. :0)

I made a couple of coaster sets as gifts this year. I used stazon ink and then baked at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. Made the box to match the colors and with a little clear cello wrap and bow Voila! I really wished they had turned out better but I will definitely be making more of these.

As always, I hope you find time to be creative and most importantly time to stamp!
