Verses Rubber Stamp

Long time no blog! As many of you know I had surgery this past week. I have been dealing with a problem no one doctor could agree on for the past 2 plus years! Then I finally became so sick last month that after to going to another specialist he found the problem. So hopefully this surgery will have corrected the situation. But enough of doctor talk! LOL!!!

I was so fortunate to be picked to be on the design team for Verse Rubber Stamp Company but being so sick I've really fallen behind in my card making.

I do have one card today and plan on posting more cards using there stamps later on this week. I hope you will enjoy this. I used an image stamp from La Blanche Stamps carried by Create & Craft. The sentiment I used is my absolute favorite! I used all natural colors and some really cool natural embellishments from the skeleton leaves to some pine cones from my yard. Enjoy!

Take care and have a wonderful week. I wish you time to be creative but most of all time to stamp!

Gift Bag Fun

Hello everyone!

I had a few requests to show how to put this cute gift bag together. It's a bit different than the way I showed everyone at Red Letter Journals. Through trial and error this seemed to work the best way for me. I didn't realize but the shot of the way the one tabs were cut wasn't on screen clearly. I'm so sorry for that. The tabs should be cut horizontally NOT vertically. I also forgot to say use a bit of glue on the inside tabs so they lay flat.

I hope this helps. And please remember you can still pause the video anytime to make sure you can see what I've done. I was trying not to take too long(but it does seem a bit rushed!) If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!

Take care and I wish you time to create but most of all time to STAMP!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

Hello Everyone and Happy Mother's Day!

It seems like forever since my last post. I wanted to do just a quick share today of a few pictures of my Mom and the card I made her this year. Hope you will enjoy them.  The first Picture is of my Mom in September 1955 and the 2 smaller pictures one where she is holding me and the other she is standing holding my brother David next to my sister Mary, that's me in the foreground in blue shorts.

Over the years I've made her quite a few cards but I really liked this one. I took a class at Archiver's with my good friends Amy Day, Joe Morgan and Betty Scott. We learned this color technique in class. The image stamp is from Northwoods Rubber Stamps and the sentiment is from the Stampin Up set Teeny Tiny Wishes. I wish the pictures would do it justice. Mom loved the card and her gift we got her this year. All my siblings and I went in and got her a tree for her front yard. Now to get it planted this week!

Take care my dear blog followers. I wish you time to be creative but most of all time to STAMP!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley & A Shamless Plug For Our Class

Hello my dear blog friends,

Today was the monthly card exchange at Red Letter Journals in Grove City, Ohio. The theme for the month was music. I ended up with a clean and simple design using just a background stamp and sentiment. A pop of red cardstock, ribbon and gems really made the card! I hope you like it. All supplies were from Stampin Up except the gems(unknown) and I used Memento Black Ink.

Since I was at the store I wanted to take a few pictures and decided to do a quick (and yes shameless) ad for an upcoming class I have the privilege of co-teaching with Betty Scott of Create & Craft. It's on Saturday April 27 from 11AM to 2PM.

Here are the pictures of the projects and a very quick video. I was trying to hurry and misspoke in a few places but I meant to say was we would be drawing prizes through out the class not contest! ugh!!! But, I'm sure you'll get the gist. hehe

And here is the link to the video! Enjoy!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

What a weekend it has been! Memories Expo was in Columbus, Ohio on Friday and Saturday. I had so much fun helping Betty Scott of Create & Craft do her Iris Folding Card Class. Then my sister and I took Joe Rotella's No Sew Quilted Frame Class. Now before you say "Hey that's not stamping!" Joe showed us that we can use our scrapbooking papers, gilding ,stamps and so much more to do these kits. We didn't have enough time to finish them in class but we learned how to do the project including the frame which is the hardest part. I finished this frame at home in less than 40 minutes! Can't wait to finish the other kits I bought! So here is a quick picture of my finished hummingbird and two of the many kits he offered. I think he may be doing this class at Red Letter Journals in Grove City, Ohio later this year. There is a really fun variety of kits. I can see using Stampin Up's Fabrics along with their matching stamps and cardstocks for perfect gifts!

I did want to leave you with a quick look back at my first card of the year made with a stamp from Verses Rubber Stamp along with a link to the video where I made the card. Enjoy! I will have more cards using their stamps this week. So keep an eye out for a fun post and blog candy to come!

Take care and have a wonderful day! It's snowing every so lightly here today. The perfect day for a cup of tea and some rubber stamping!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

Happy St Patrick's Day to you all from my hubby and me!

Today I have just a quick post to show you a stair step card I received for St Patrick's Day. Isn't it wonderful! I love making cards with different folds. And this is one of my favorites! This card was made by my good friend and workout buddy Amy Day. You did a great job!

And I'd love to leave you with a cute treat cone made with Stampin Up's petal cone die. Here is a link to a video to see how it was made.
I added the button to the bow and liked the added little touch. The papers are from Red Letter Journals in Grove City Ohio. The buttons from Michaels and the ribbon is from Stampin Up. I hope you'll check out some of her videos. She is one of my favorite Stampin Up Demonstrators! Love her style and how she explains things.

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and have a week filled with chances to be creative but most of all time to stamp! Take care.

Hello Everyone,

I guess better late than never as the saying goes. I've haven't been up to par this week. I will post this week as soon as I'm doing a bit better.

I went to a crop yesterday(Saturday) where all the proceeds went to the cancer Society. It was nice to get out. And a big thank you to my sister for coming to get me and doing the driving! And a big thank you to my friend Susan Day for helping me with the drawing!!!

As you can see from the picture I put all the names for the drawing and then video taped the drawing.

Enjoy the video and congratulations Nancy!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

Hello and hope your Sunday is going well!

Today I am using one of my new stamps from VersesRubberStamps. com. It's "The Rose Speaks".

I took an online class to learn how to make these roses. There a lot easier than they look! As you can see you get different shapes and a CD with the pdf file so I could just cut out the petals with my Zing. I don't know what I would do with out my Zing Cutting Machine. It makes light work of cutting out lots of little things like this. Here is a link for more information on the incredible Zing!

Here is a quick pic of some of the shapes I learned how to use with the class. Can you guess which ones I used to make the rose?  (Post your answer on this post to win a fun blog prize. I'll draw for it next Sunday) Good Luck!

Now for some details on how I made this card. First off I used Versamark ink to stamp the Old Olive base card. I love the soft watermark detail it gives to the background. I used a stamp from Close To My Heart set called Happy Valentines Day. It was one of there stamps of the month.

I then stamped the sentiment from  in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with Labels Collection Framelits. I then cut out the next layer size up and used the matching piercing mat from Stamping Up. What a great way to add even more texture to the matting!

I punched out two different colors of greenery using Martha Stewart's tiny pine branch and Little Leaves Sizzlits from Stampin Up. I like the contrast of the Certain Celery and the Old Olive together.  So then it was just a matter of putting all the pieces together. I added pop dots to the layered sentiment. I doubled up the pop dots so I could give it a bit more lift off the card base. That way I could layer the greenery from under it to give it a bit more depth. I love how that turned out. I used glue dots to adhere the greenery and rose. The only thing I wished I had done was maybe use a sponge dauber with some soft pink on the rose petals. I feared doing afterwards because I just knew I would smear the card! LOL Now I will have to make another and see which way I like it better. :0)

I can't thank Connie and Kat from Verses Rubber Stamps enough for their faith in me to use their wonderful stamps and choosing me to be part of their fabulous design team! I'm having a ball! By the end of next week I should have a decent picture sent to them and my bio to be put on their website! WOO HOO! It's all so exciting!!!

So here you go. Enjoy the pictures!(remember you just need to click on any given picture to enlarge it if you need to see it a bit closer)

And NEVER worry about mailing thick embellished cards! These clear boxes from Clear Bags are a blessing! Not only does it make receiving the card fun it protects them so well. And you know the postal carries love seeing our works of art! :0)

Well, that's it for this Sunday. Have a great week! I hope you have time to be creative but most of all time to stamp!

Don't forget to post your guess on which shape I used to make the roses.(oh and the pearl centers are from the wedding dept at JoAnn's)

Sunday Stamping With Shirley & The Blog Winner Is...

Hello Everyone!

Let's get the blog winner out of the way first. :0) I want to thank everyone who commented on last weeks blog post. I drew the winner from the 8 people who commented. The winner is...

Jennifer M.

Jennifer, if you would please email me with your address. I will mail it out as soon as I hear from you. Thank you again for your kind comment! Here is a picture of what you won. A 25 count pack of cards and envelopes, a fun set of clear acrylic stamps from Stampendous and 5 packs of self adhesive bling from Want 2 Scrap. Enjoy!

And now for my cards for this Sunday. I used the verse stamp "The Woods" from and the wooded background stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps. I got the wooded background stamp from Simply Said Rubber Stamps in Loveland, Ohio. It's the cutest little stamp store! I enjoyed meeting the owner, Joan. And her husband was there too. He was hard at work. You have to love a hubby who is such a great support to his wife! :0)

This first card I used dies from Memory Box(pictured) and the grass was a die from My Favorite Things. I loved using the brown and pinks together. I guess I was feeling like having a bit of Spring finally, even if it was only on a card! It took a bit of time to gently glue each little leaf and flower but I think the end result is simply lovely.

And for my last card I used "The Woods" stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps with the same verse stamp. Two different looks but I think both lovely. I used copic marker C00 to shade the trees(which doesn't show up too well in this picture) and three shades of green markers to color the greenery and chose the matching Lucky Limeade green shade cardstock from Stampin Up To use as the border. I'll be sad when they discontinue this color of green. It's one of my favorites right now.

Well, that's all for this Sunday. I always enjoy reading your comments. Let me know which card you liked best.

Take care and I wish you a week filled with creativity and of course some time for stamping!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

Hello Everyone!

Has a week gone by already?! I have had a busy week stamping. I can't wait to post a few more of my cards in the next few days. But even better was a trip down with Betty Scott(Joe Rotella's sister) to actually see Verses Rubber Stamps warehouse and meet Kat in person! I have to say it was GREAT!!! Let me tell you I have a new appreciation for the work that goes into the stamps I receive when I order from them. The warehouse is very clean and so organized! Even though Kat has a very busy schedule she was able to fit Betty and I in for a little tour and lunch with us. It was a great trip. We also stopped by a new rubber stamp store. You'll have to wait till my next post to here all about it along with a card I made with a stamp I bought there.

Today I would like to share another card made with stamps from This is such a versatile stamp. On my last post I talked about using an oldie but goodie stamping technique. It's called "Omit Stamping".  I'm sure many of you know it's when you only ink up part of the stamp and use it. When I saw this stamp I knew immediately I could use it with this technique. As you can see this stamp has a great Happy Birthday Font. Perfect alone or with the sentiment.

On the first card.I went for bright vibrant colors in shades of orange, turquoise, and red. I stamped a few of the words in those colors and popped them up and used matching papers and buttons to tie it all together. I needed white dots on the paper but sometimes you just have to improvise. So, I colored the pink dots with a white gel pen. It made all the difference.

On the second card I used the omit stamping technique and used a black marker to ink up just the "Happy Birthday" portion of the stamp. Isn't it a great font! I love the look of it. I think it works well with the cute image from Penny Black Stamps and the chicken wire background stamp from Stampin up.

So without further ado...two cards made with the same stamp. Let me know what you think of using just part of this stamp. Next Sunday I will draw from your comments for a very fun blog candy give-a-way! Good luck all!

Take care all and have a wonderful week filled with time to be creative but most of all time to stamp!

Sunday Stamping With Shirley

Hello Everyone!

As you know I was fortunate to be chosen to be on the design team for Verses Rubber Stamps( Over the past few months I have been trying to take better care of myself and get better organized with my busy schedule. Being on this design team is a dream come true and I really want to do a great job for the company. So to do this right I will be posting cards using their stamps on Sundays. It will make for an easy fit into my schedule. Today, I'm going to share a quick but cute little card.

With all the snow on the ground I can't help but think of spring. And this little bird stamp just brings thoughts of spring to mind. Of course the Verses Stamp is perfect for this image. This has to be one of my three favorite stamps they sent me. I will be using it again and again. If you only knew how may bird stamps I had you'd faint! LOL

The supplies I used are:

Stamp: Bird Doesn't Sing from
Bird stamp on front and inside from Stampin Up(discontinued)

Ribbon: Early Espresso Grosgain

Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip from Stampin Up

Ink: Chocolate Chip from Stampin Up

Markers: Stampin Up in Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie

Miscellaneous: Zot Dot(to hold ribbon in place, Sizzix Ornate Card XL Die(white layer shape was cut with it) and Tombow adhesive

So here are the pictures. I like to always stamp a bit or decorate with matching cardstock inside the card for a nice finishing touch.  Sorry they are a bit blurry but I'm working on my camera skills. I just wish you could see the lovely blending of the blues on the bird better. It looks much better in person! :0)

So that's just a quick card for today. Hope you will stop back next Sunday to check out my next cards. I have one done right now(I'm sooooo excited to share this one with you) but I have to finish up the other cards using the same stamp. I want to show how versatile the stamps are in using them in a different ways. I also be using an oldie but goodie technique.

Take care and as always I wish you time to be creative but most of all time to stamp!
